A young Maryland couple brought in Angel, a young female cat who had been hit by a car in front of their house. With two broken back legs, Angel was unable to stand at all, let alone walk. She underwent two surgeries, the first to mend one leg and the next to amputate a leg that could not be saved. Throughout the ordeal, Angel remained a sweet little kitten who loved being held and would fall asleep, purring, in the technicians’ arms.
After her surgeries, Angel moved to our cat room to recovery and find a home. The volunteers and cat room staff undertook what amounted to a physical rehab program for Angel. With their coaxing and encouragement, she first learned to scoot around on three legs, then walk, and eventually she overcame her handicap to the point where she seemed not to notice it. She even learned to climb to the top of the cat tree in the play room!
After all she had been through, Angel was rewarded with a perfect home with people who love her, have had previous cats with medical problems, and admire this sweet kitten’s brave spirit. They tell us they have set up a special room for Angel to make life easier for her.
