Dr. Jan. Rosen graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. She worked in private practice for 16 years. At the same time, she volunteered her medical services at a local shelter and surgical services in feral cat spay/neuter clinics. In 2003, she joined the League as Senior Staff Veterinarian in order to fulfill her original goal of reducing the suffering of stray animals. In 2008 she became the Medical Center Director.
Sol Perl, DVM, Veterinarian
A graduate of the school of veterinary medicine at the University of Perugia, Italy, Dr. Sol Perl has been providing veterinary house calls in the Washington, DC area for the past 20 years. He began working at the League’s Medical Center when it opened in 1996, and he continues to do the bulk of the Center’s spay and neuter surgeries for adopted animals and low-income clients. Dr. Perl is always happy to donate extra hours to the Medical Center, where he finds the work extremely rewarding.
Dr. Shillito graduated from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and also holds a PhD in animal behavior. Prior to starting with the League, he was in private practice in the District. Dr. Shillito regularly volunteers with the Humane Society of the United States to provide veterinary care to Native American and Appalachian communities throughout the country.
