Politics & Prose Sales for Humane Education

Animal lovers and League fans who purchase books at Politics & Prose on Friday, September 24, will be supporting our active and promising humane education program, which works to encourage children’s empathy towards animals and empowers them to become advocates for animals in their communities.

A literary landmark and favorite D.C. gathering space, Politics and Prose is located at 5051 Connecticut Ave, NW, (near the intersection with Nebraska Avenue). It will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 10 p.m. on September 24. When anyone presents a League coupon at the cash registers on this Partnership Friday, the store will donate 20 percent of the purchase price to the League’s humane education program.

Coupons can be printed from this link.  They will also be available in the store that day.

Humane education director Debbie Duel has built a literary component into her program by having students read books about animals and other children who help animals.  Many of the books she uses in the classroom and distributes to her students will be available at Politics & Prose on the Partnership Friday.  Those interested in doing so can purchase them there and immediately donate them to the League.
