People News at WARL
We wish a bittersweet farewell to three beloved staff members this quarter.
A fond farewell to Michele Seiver, who has served on our board of directors for three years and leaves us to focus on her family. Michele departs with kind words: “What is happening at the League is outstanding as every person is dedicated to the health and happiness of the animals.” We appreciate her dedication and wish her well. Keep in touch, Michele!

A warm welcome to Betsy and Roger Marmet, our newest board members! The Marmets are dedicated supporters of The Washington Animal Rescue League, having adopted three dogs from us. They also have two rescued cats, and actively promote the League to their friends and associates; about a dozen of them have adopted from us and/or become League supporters. Roger and Betsy, who reside in Chevy Chase, serve as co-chairs of the League's 90th anniversary Campaign for Compassion. We are delighted to welcome them to the board!

Each month, we recognize a WARL team member as Employee of the Month for a job well done, but given the tremendous teamwork, and the way everyone pitched in during our Katrina efforts, in September we recognized our entire staff. We give a hearty round of applause and a big thank you to everyone: the heroic staff who plunged through Louisiana's squalid conditions; our veterinary staff, who assessed and treated all the animals we transported back to our shelter; the adoptions team, who worked so hard to find them homes; the shelter staff, who put in so much time caring for the hurricane victims and giving them extra TLC as they settled in; the marketing staff, who helped with media relations and raising awareness; the development team, who spent hours responding to incoming donations; and the volunteer staff, who helped ensure all our needs were met. Kudos—and many thanks.
