Sunday, June 1st 9am - American University

Join us for The Washington Animal Rescue League's annual 5K Fun Run & 2M Walk hosted by American University for the 3rd year! Come on out and Strut Your Stuff (rain or shine)!!


Start a Team:

There is strength in numbers! Become a team captain and invite a group of your friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors to join your team. As a team you can raise money together, train together, and have an even bigger impact in the lives of the animals at the League.  Here's our online Team Captain Kit.

Fees:
Online Registration: $25 per adult, $15 per child (<12), dogs FREE! Mailed or faxed registrations will incur a $5 per participant processing fee. Raise $100 minimum (which will include your registration fee) in order to get a Mutts Strut goody bag!

Parking:
Parking is available in the lot off of Nebraska Avenue. Please follow signs.

Doggie Details:

  • Dogs are encouraged to attend, but for their protection, we ask that they participate in the walk portion only; please do not bring stress-prone or aggressive dogs.
  • A water station will be provided.
  • All guardians are required to clean up after their dogs.
  • Dogs participating in the walk must be: licensed and have current rabies vaccinations; spayed or neutered; kept on a six-foot or shorter leash and under control at all times.

On-site registration:
Onsite registration is available for $30 for Adults and $20 for children.

Pledge Information:
Raise a minimum of $100 (which will include your registration fee) in order to get a Mutts Strut goody bag! The first 100 people to set up their online fundraising page will receive a free WARL hat!

Directions to American University:

From DC - Washington Animal Rescue League:

  1. Turn RIGHT onto BLAIR RD NW.
  2. Bear LEFT onto PEABODY ST NW.
  3. Turn LEFT onto 13th ST NW.
  4. Turn RIGHT onto MISSOURI AVE NW.
  5. Continue onto MILITARY RD NW.
  6. Bear LEFT onto NEBRASKA AVE NW.
  7. Enter TENLEY CIRCLE and go 340 feet to NEBRASKA AVE NW.
  8. Take first exit from TENLEY CIRCLE onto NEBRESKA AVE NW.
  9. Enter WARD CIRCLE NW onto MASSACHUSETTS AVE NW.
From Interstate 495 (Capital Beltway)
  1. Take EXIT 39 and carefully follow the signs for RIVER ROAD (Maryland Route 190) east toward Washington.
  2. Continue EAST on RIVER ROAD to the fifth traffic light.
  3. Turn RIGHT onto GOLDSBORO ROAD (Maryland Route 614).
  4. At the first traffic light, turn left onto MASSACHUSETTS AVE NW (Maryland Route 396).
  5. Continue on MASSACHUSETTS AVE NW for about two miles, through the first traffic circle (Westmoreland Circle).
  6. About on mile further on, enter a second traffic circle (Ward Circle).
  7. Take the first RIGHT turn out of the WARD CIRCLE, onto NEBRASKA AVE NW. The campus is on your right.
From Nebraska Avenue and Parking
You may enter the university's visitor parking lot by turning left at the first traffic light onto New Mexico Avenue and then left into the parking lot adjacent to the Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church. Or you may drive directly onto the campus by driving past the first traffic light on Nebraska Avenue and turning right at the first gate. The race will begin in front of the Mary Graydon Center.
