PT/Weekends Adoptions Coordinator

Essential Duties and Functions:
• Promptly greet the public both in person and over the phone in a friendly manner.
• Understand and adhere to adoption procedures to make appropriate matches between potential adopting families and cats/ dogs. 
• Learn PetPoint database in order to perform regular data entry for potential adopters and incoming animals.
• Collect information from parties surrendering or returning animals. 
• Appropriately communicate findings of assessments, as well as general behavioral or medical observations, to potential adopters.
• Utilize PetPoint and Cornerstone databases in order to collect appropriate information to process adoptions. 
• Close out cash drawer each evening.
• Communicate with relevant staff as to the dogs/cats scheduled to transition to their forever home.
• Communicate with the senior management team on processes that may aid in the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
• Complete administrative duties which include filing applications and animal medical and behavioral assessments as well as making copies for adopter handouts, etc. 
• Assist in Animal Welfare activities (ShARE transports, temperament evaluations) as requested.
• Serve as a salesperson for the shelter store.
• Promote humane attitudes towards the care and treatment of animals through education and example.

• Regularly sits at a computer station and operates electronic equipment.
• Frequently lifts, carries and positions objects weighing up to 30 pounds when moving supplies and managing special events.
• Typically stands, bends, stoops and crouches while working special events.
• Regularly moves about the facility to coordinate work.
• Weekend and evening work.
• Consistently exposed to animals and animal allergens under conditions with limited alterations available.
• Exposure to various weather conditions when working outdoors.
• Subject to animal bites and scratches while handling animals or questionable temperament.
• Occasional lifting of up to 50lbs. with reasonable accommodations.
• Subject to exposure to loud noises, infectious disease, foul odors, and potentially aggressive animals.  Contacts with deceased animals can occur.

Qualifications & Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and task satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

• A background in customer service is preferred.  A commitment to the human animal bond as well as the humane treatment of both people and animals is a must.
• Must prefer and have the ability to cope with physically and emotionally demanding work.
• Exercise good judgment and make independent decisions with limited supervision.
• Must have patience and effectively deal with emotionally distraught and some times hostile clients.
• Knowledge of animal adoption procedures and general animal health and behavior.
• Succinct communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to organize thoughts in a logical, clear and concise manner.
• Basic computer skills.
• Experience and ability to use office equipment.
• Ability to handle money accurately and honestly.
